Graduation Cards!

Happy Thursday Late Night Crafty Peeps!

I'm happy to share tonight's projects while it's still actually tonight.  hahaha!  I made two different styles of Graduation cards, and I hope these inspire you if you need to make your own.  One of my viewers suggested that I should keep one on hand, but my answer is - I always make them with custom colors to match their high school.  That's the beauty of making your own cards.  You can make whatever you want, in whatever color you need.  Yay!

Tonights projects are made with a variety of stamps/products from various companies.  I have very little "graduation" from Stampin' Up!, and what I do have is retired.  I encourage everyone to go through your stash and try to find things that would work for you,

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.  NOTE:  Facebook has been behaving poorly for quite some time, so I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First card is a Tent fold card - the base is smaller, but the front panel runs the whole length of an A-2 card.   Focal image is from Unity Stamp Co.  Other stamps are from SU, but retired.  Congratulations is the only current set that I used!

I stamped the Graduation guy first, then stamped the words and tiny hats all around for the border.

You might not notice, but I also used a Graduation Hat embossing folder.

Paper Measurements:
  • Blueberry Bushel:  4 1/4" x 6", scored at 3"
  • Blueberry Bushel:  2 3/4" x 4", embossed with Graduation Hat folder
  • Blueberry Bushel:  3 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Crushed Curry:  3" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" x 4", for inside of card
  • Blueberry Bushel:  1" x 4", for inside pocket
  • Basic White:  3/4" x 3 1/4", for greeting
  • Blueberry Bushel:  1" x 3 1/4"
See it open - see how the bottom part is what opens.

Inside, you can see the small area to write on and the pocket that I added.  I've got a gift card in here, just so you can judge the size.  I actually put a check inside.

Stamps:  You Did Good (Unity Stamp Co), Sweet & Simple Salutations, Pocketful of Cheer (Paper Pumpkin March 2016), Every Day Greetings
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Blueberry Bushel, Crushed Curry
Paper:  Blueberry Bushel, Crushed Curry, Basic White
Other:  Graduation hat embossing folder (unknown brand.  I think I got it at Joann's), Iridescent Foil Gems, Stampin' Blends markers (various), Gold Wink of Stella marker

The second card is a Graduation Cap card.  I took the Squash Book idea that I shared last week, and made a single squash...just add a tassel to the front cover and it's a hat!  Finished size for this one is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2".  It is over 1 oz, but extremely lumpy, so I am mailing this one as a package.

I used a pre-made tassel, but you could certainly make your own so it coordinates with the school colors.

Paper Measurements:
  • Black CS (CTMH, similar to our new Two-Tone):  9" x 9", scored at 4 1/2" in both directions, then scored/folded diagonally once.  Refer to the Squash Book video.
  • Basic Black:  (2) 5 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 1/2" on all 4 sides, to make front and back covers
  • Basic White:  (2) 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • Gray Granite:  3" x 6", to make bottom diagonal pocket
  • Basic Black:  (2) 4 1/8" x 4 1/8", embossed with hat folder, then cut in half diagonally
Card opened up.  I added embossed panels on the sides using the same unknown Graduation Hat folder that I have.    I did add some sparkly dots on the top panel, AFTER I took the pictures.  :(  I did the same border stamping with the words.  Stamp the girl graduation image first, then do the border.

Pocket on the bottom panel holds gift card or check/cash.

Isn't this a fun one to make???

Stamps:  Graduation Wishes (Unity Stamp Co), Con-Grad-ulations (A-Muse Studio), Sweet & Simple Salutations,  Pocketful of Cheer (Paper Pumpkin March 2016)
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler),  Gray Granite
Paper: Black (CTMH), Basic Black, Basic White, Gray Granite
Other:  Graduation Hat embossing folder (unknown), Silver cord, Gray tassel, Stampin' Blends markers (various colors), Black square brad

I hope you decide to copy these designs for your own Graduation card needs.  Use whatever other stamps you have.  You might also be able to print out some images like the school mascot or something, instead of the main stamped images.  Be creative!

Next week - creating with the new HUGE die set....Party Alphabet and Party Banners!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
