Everyday Happiness Mini Album Tutorial

Hello Crafty Friends!  Today I’m sharing measurements and pictures from the Mini Album that I made Thursday night, using the Everyday Happiness paper pack.  I just made the book itself - I did not add pictures or doll it up at all yet.  My thoughts are that these papers and colors are so generic - they will go with any occasion you can think of.  Whenever I figure out which pictures I’ll be adding, THEN I will add  ephemera and decorative bits.

You can always just add pictures and not decorate at all.  It’s up to you!  Finished size is 6” x 9” x 1”, and the covers/spine are made using chipboard from Paper Pumpkin kits!  Don’t throw those pieces of chipboard out!

I show you how to make the covers using the Lay Flat Method, from Country Craft Creations.  I love method of making your book covers, and it really does lay FLAT.  I ended up adding a ribbon closure, but you don’t HAVE to have that.  It will stay closed on it’s own.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

This is a picture of the finished book from the bottom.  See how nice it lays closed…no alligator < book with this method. You might be able to see that I’ve got two “pages” in my book.  I created the two main pockets off of a U-hinge, then built pages on both sides of each pocket.  So I’ve got four pages total.

Here’s the inside cover.  I’ve got a gusseted pocket with two 4” x 8” tags in there.  Plenty of room for more.  You also see Page 1.  To make it easier on myself, I designed my pages so that Pages 1 and 4 are the same.  Then Pages 2 and 3 are the same.

Pages 1 and 4 have Top and Bottom flips.  I did use magnets to keep these flips closed, so you’ll see that in the video as well.  Magnet placement is important, so the magnets from other pages don’t interfere with each other.

Still Page 1, with both flips flipped up.

Now remember I said I started off with two main pockets.  I’ve got a booklet in each top-loading pocket.  These are also 4” x 8” finished size (same as the tags).  You could also add tags if you don’t like the booklet idea.

Now we turn the page and we see Pages 2 and 3.   These are both going to flip out a couple of times!

Flipped once…

Flipped twice.  So each page has 3 panels.  The back-sides are also usable.

Again, Page 4 is the same as Page 1.  The inside back cover has the same size pocket and tags as the inside front cover.

Paper Measurements - I’m going to list everything that I used, but you will have to watch the video for assembly.  For the Designer Series Paper, I’ll just say DSP.  **Pay attention to the direction of any patterns on your DSP before you cut.
