Hello Crafty Friends!
Today I'm sharing the projects that I made on Thursday night. This week was all about cards and envelopes. For this series, I'm using products mainly from the Marbled Elegance Suite. This is an Online Exclusive item, meaning it's not in any printed catalog.
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously. NOTE: Facebook has been sporadically giving me fits lately, so I recommend viewing on YouTube.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
First up is an A2 size card and envelope set. I used one piece of designer series paper for the main layer, and cut 2" off each end. Flip that middle bit over to the other side to give the card a little more interest with multiple patterns.
Quick reminder that I don't have the Hearts of Elegance dies. I'm using some retired Stampin' Up heart dies, and another set from Unity Stamp Co. Use whatever heart-shaped dies you have to duplicate these projects.
Paper Measurements:
- Real Red: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4”
- Basic White: 4” x 5 1/4”, for inside of card
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4” x 5 1/4”, cut 2" off the top and then the bottom.
- Flirty Flamingo: scrap to die-cut heart
- Basic White: scrap to die-cut heart
Paper Measurements for Envelope:
- Real Red: 5" x 7 1/4". Score and cut according to video
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4 1/2" x 6"
Add a swoopy loop of Iridescent Striped ribbon, and then pop the layered hearts up on top. Finish with some Heart Sequins.
Stamps: Greetings of the Season, Elegant Greetings
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Real Red
Paper: Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Basic White, Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper
Other: Heart dies (Unity Stamp Co), Iridescent Striped 1/2" ribbons, Heart Sequins
Here's the envelope pattern for both the first and second cards - You'll have to watch the video to see cutting and assembly. These are two-piece envelopes. The base is cardstock, with a coordinating piece of Designer Series Paper added. This design uses minimal designer series paper - so you can save that good paper for other projects. It's also a little lighter than making the envelope strictly out of cardstock. Mailing it should not require extra postage - but you'll have to weigh your final card/envelope to be sure.
The second card is a slimline card and envelope. I had stamped and cut all six of these hearts ahead of time, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. Heavy on the sponging! I wanted a vintage look.
Use a brayer or carefully direct-to-paper Crumb Cake ink on the Dotted Circles embossed piece of Crumb Cake. I wanted a tone-on-tone look to highlight the raised up parts. I think you could also use black ink for this part too, if you wanted.
Paper Measurements:
- Poppy Parade: 7” x 8 1/2”, scored at 3 1/2”
- Basic White: 3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
- Basic Black: 3 1/4" x 8 1/4"
- Crumb Cake: 3 1/16" x 8 1/16", embossed with Dotted Circles folder
- Basic White: scraps to stamp and cut SIX hearts in all different colors
Paper Measurements for Envelope:
- Poppy Parade: 4 1/2" x 10 1/4". Score and cut according to video
- Marbled Elegance DSP: 4" x 9"
Finish by popping the greeting up. I used TWO pieces of the Celebrate Love Ephemera Pack. Use one to flip over and color or ink solid black. Then cut the edges off of the second piece to get a black-bordered greeting that is perfectly layered.
Stamps: Hearts of Elegance
Ink: Crumb Cake, Flirty Flamingo, Real Red, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobbler, Petal Pink
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Basic White, Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper
Other: Dotted Circles embossing folder, Celebrate Love Ephemera Mix & Match Pack
My third card is a heart-shaped card. You can make shaped cards with ANY dies that you have! You need two pieces cut from the same die to make your base. Blueberry Bushel in this case. Cut the next layer down in Basic White for the inside, and then I cut a piece from a Brushed Gold Card for this top layer.
Watch the video to see how I score the BOTTOM Blueberry Bushel heart to create the hinge edge, so the card opens up.
Ink brayer Blueberry Bushel ink on this top piece (before you attach it). You could also drag your ink pad over this heart cut-out - direct-to-paper. Either way, you'll need to rub a paper towel over the inked piece because the ink will pool up on the gold foil.
I punched out that smaller Blueberry Bushel heart and gold-embossed the greeting to be like a conversation heart. I love it!
Paper Measurements:
- Blueberry Bushel: two of the same size die-cuts
- Basic White: smaller piece to layer on the inside
- Brushed Gold Card: die cut same size heart as above, and punch the smallest heart out of it too
- Blueberry Bushel: scrap to punch the "conversation heart"
Inside of the card.
Finish with some Heart sequins.
Stamps: Friends for Life
Ink: Blueberry Bushel, Versamark
Paper: Blueberry Bushel, Basic White, Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes
Other: Heart dies (Unity Stamp Co),
My last card is again using a Brushed Gold Card and envelope. This one is a Pop-Up Z-fold that I got from my friend Sue.
Paper Measurements:
- Brushed Gold Card: 5 1/2" x 8 1/4", scored at 2 1/8" (it's already scored at 4 1/4")
- Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", for the BACK of the card to make it a little more sturdy
- Marbled Elegance Designer Series Paper: 1 7/8" x 5 1/4"
- Gold Foil: 3" x 4 1/4"
- Poppy Parade: 2 1/2" x 4"
- Basic White: (2) 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
- Basic White: 2 1/4" x 3", scored at 3/4", 1 1/2", and 2 1/4"
- Basic White: scrap to stamp and cut flowers
Picture of it standing up, so you can see all the layers -
Finished off with some white sequins from the Purple Sequins (Sale-a-Bration freebie), and some Tiny Bee Trinkets.
Stamps: Hearts of Elegance, Simply Said
Ink: Poppy Parade, Shy Shamrock
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic White, Gold Foil, Marbled Elegance Designer Series paper
Other: Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes, Purple Sequins, Tiny Bee Trinkets
I hope you LOVE these cards and envelopes. I do love making my own envelopes - especially if I only have a single scrap of a particular patterned paper left.
This coming Thursday (Jan 23rd) will be the final part of my three-part Marbled Elegance Series, and I'll be making some scrapbook pages! I think I said 12" x 12" in the video. Tune in for that!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
