March 2022 Virtual Workshop - Sea Life!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my March Virtual Workshop!  My theme this month is "Sea Life".  I wanted to bring out all of the "sea life" stamps, dies, punches, and embossing folders and see what I could come up with.  I LOVE these cards and hope you enjoy them too!

Since this is my monthly workshop, you'll want to check out my Workshop of the Month page for full details of this month's offer (and freebie with qualifying purchase!) - which ends 3/312022 at 9:00pm ET.

Just a reminder that I am Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

BONUS Project - I just added on Sunday using the leftover leaves/sea leave die cuts and punches!

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

Seashells is up first!  This is a 4" x 6" card, and envelope.   The only reason I decided on this size was because I haven't made anything 4" x 6" in a while, and I thought it would look nice with that Simply Marbelous paper behind it.

I am cutting and embossing the seashell layer for you, but you'll need to add the gold embossing.  I just lightly tapped and smeared my Versamark ink pad around my seashell piece and added gold embossing powder.  I DID have to knock some off before I cooked it...it was more than I expected.  :)

Paper measurements:
  • Flirty Flamingo: 6" x 8", scored in half at 4"
  • Simply Marbelous Designer Series Paper:  3 7/8" x 5 7/8"
  • Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" (for inside of card)
  • Blushing Bride: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", cut and embossed with Seashells die/folder
After I gold-embossed the seashell bits, I took some of the smaller images and a greeting and gold-embossed on the left-over scrap of the Simply Marbelous paper.  I flipped that over and used the opposite side from the marbled print.

Here's a closer image.  You can see that I watercolored the shells.  This was a QUICK job.  I used an ink block (clear) as a pallette - smashed it in my Flirty Flamingo ink pad to get some ink.  Then I used a water brush to pick up some color and haphazardly color in my shells.

Hand-cut the embossed seashells and greeting.  Large gold-embossed seashell panel is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Greeting is glued down flat, and then the cluster of 3 shells is popped up also.

Finished off with some of the Faux Sea Glass bits.

Stamps:  Friends are Like Seashells
Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Basic White, Simply Marbelous Designer Series Paper (from SAB)
Other:  Seashells embossing folder and dies, watercolor brush, Metallics embossing powder (gold), Faux Sea Glass

Next up is an underwater seascape!  I'm combining the Whale Done stamps and punch with the Seas the Day dies to make a little scene.  This is also a WOBBLER!  The whale wobbles (yes, I am including the wobble mechanism in your make-n-take kit!).  Notice that I did not put a greeting on here...I'm just not sure who I'm going to send it to yet.

I stamped some turtles, seahorses, and seaweed on the Simply Marbelous designer series papers in various color.  Mostly stuck with greens and blues.

Paper measurements:
  • Just Jade:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Bermuda Bay:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8", cut with Sea dies
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
  • Simply Marbelous Designer Series paper:  3 15/16" X 5 3/16"
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" X 5 1/2", notched corner for stamping/punching whale and greeting (if you want)
  • Just Jade and Pool Party: scraps to die cut and punch leaves
I stamped the whale in Bermuda Bay and punched him out.  Then I gave him a little extra razzle dazzle with the Clear Wink of Stella pen...and then put him on a wobbler!  So sparkly!

Stamps:  Whale Done
Ink:  Just Jade, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Just Jade, Bermuda Bay, Basic White, Simply Marbelous designer series paper
Other:  Sea dies, Bough punch, Clear Wink of Stella marker, Faux Sea Glass

For the third project, I wanted to make another fun fold card - something different that I don't make all of the time.  We're going with a Joy Fold card.  I like to make my Joy Folds vertical/portrait orientation..most times you'll see them landscape style.

Again, we're using the Simply Marbelous papers that I got from Sale-a-Bration.  Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather for this print.  Who doesn't like purple, right?!

Paper measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape:  4 1/4" x 8 1/4", scored at 5 1/2"
  • Simply Marbelous Designer Series paper:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Gorgeous Grape:  2 1/2" x 4", embossed with Bark folder
  • Gorgeous Grape:  3" x 8", scored in half at 4"
  • Highland Heather:  2 3/4" x 3 3/4"
  • Gorgeous Grape:  3" x 4"
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" x 3 3/4" (for inside of card)
I stamped the octopus in Gorgeous Grape, and cut out with the Seas dies.  Then I did random stamping with the fish, crabs, and seaweed using Gorgeous Grape ink on Highland Heather paper.  I stamped the fish and some of the leaves off ONCE, to get a lighter shade of that ink.

This shows the first flip up, and you can see the greeting hanging off a little bit.  You can also see that layer of Gorgeous Grape is embossed with the Bark folder.  I've been saying this for a while - the Bark looks like sea waves...close enough for me!

Very inside -

Stamps:  Seas the Day bundle
Ink:  Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Simply Marbelous designer series paper
Other:  Bark embossing folder, Faux Sea Glass

For the last project, I wanted to show you how BEAUTIFUL the Mother of Pearl and Blue Foil papers are.  This is called a Split Panel card, and it's pretty neat too.  Only downside that I see is where you'd write inside your card...you'd either see all your writing, or you'd have to contain your writing to the top and bottom to be hidden by those flaps.

I did not add a greeting here again, but when I go to use it, I'd probably stamp in that right-side centerish area.

I just realized that there's no stamping on this card!  OMG!  Easy though.  :)  hahahaha  I was more focused on the papers.  I die-cut the sea horses out of the two shades of blue foil, so that they are facing each other.  If you only want to use one seahorse on your card, go for it!  You could make two cards then.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic White Thick:  4 1/4" x 9 1/4".  Cut 4 1/4" x 11" first, then cut it at 9 1/4"  Then score in 1 7/8" from each end.
  • Basic White Thick:  1 5/8" x 4 1/4" (this is left over from piece above)
  • Mother of Pearl specialty paper:  1 5/8" x 4" (2 pieces), 1 1/2" x 4" (1 piece), emboss all with Seashells folder
  • Blue Foils:  2" x 4" (2 pieces, cut 1 seahorse from each shade of Blue.)

This shows how it opens.

I can really see how using the little magnets for cards with flaps like this would be a good idea...I might have to go find some.  I know I've got some in my stash, but they are bigger.  Probably too big.

Stamps:  NONE
Ink:  NONE
Paper:  Basic White (Thick and Regular), Mother of Pearl
Other:  Seascape dies, Seashells embossing folder, Faux Sea Glass

BONUS PROJECT:  As I was finally cleaning up my desk today (Sunday), I came across the extra die cut and punched out leaves from the Whale wobble card.  I didn't want them to go to waste, so I decided that you will get an extra card in your make-n-take kit, so that you can use those bits!

This is a very simple Crumb Cake card base, with an embossed layer (Timeworn Type).  The leaves are glued down flat.  Greeting is stamped in Bermuda Bay (if you don't have Bermuda Bay ink, you could emboss your greeting in gold, or maybe copper.  Greeting is glued down flat also, then the entire layer is popped up with foam tape on to the Crumb Cake card base.  Easy peasy!

Paper measurements:
  • Crumb Cake:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Crumb Cake:  3 3/4" x 5", embossed with Timeworn Type
  • Crumb Cake: 3/4" strip, punched on both ends with Pick a Banner punch.  You pick which end you want to use.
  • Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana:  scrap leaves from whale card

I really hope you love these Sea Life themed cards!  My Online Class this month (will air Live on March 14th and 15th) will be featuring the Waves of the Ocean papers, foils, and gems...so MORE sea life theme things to come!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
