I didn't really know what to call this, so I'm going with "mash ups". The idea that I got was to start with (4) pieces of designer series papers, cut them up using the same pattern, and the mash up the patterns to make cards.
Grab (4) pieces of designer series papers that coordinate - from the same pack would be nice, or just totally mix and match patterns and colors! It's YOUR card! I started with 6" x 6" pieces, and I FIRST cut them down to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". (Notice that I write * save for another card in red??? I actually used that piece to cover my envelope flaps.)
Then you cut that piece down according to this diagram.
Since you're using (4) different prints, mix up the pieces, so that each card gets a different pattern piece. Next step is to tape/glue all the pieces on to a coordinating card stock base that measures 4" x 5 1/4". It's kind of a tight squeeze, but you'll get them together.
Attach your patchwork piece to a card base, and then doll up the front of your card. I made (3) different sets of cards.
My prototype was using some paper that I got from Unity Stamp Co. I added some Dragonfies in Mint Macaron and Misty Moonlight - it's a close enough match! See how I also turned some of them landscape...it all depends on your pattern directions.
Stamps: Dragonfly Garden Bundle
Ink: Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, Misty Moonlight
Paper: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, random printed papers (Unity Stamp Co.)
Other: Double Oval punch, Basic Pearls
After my prototype, I chose some fun, bright papers that I wanted to use for making Easter cards. My base colors were Mango Melody, and Melon Mambo. The designer series papers are from last year, called Garden Impressions. It was a 6x6 stack.
I used the Tasteful Labels dies, along with some embossing folders, and circle punches... The bunny rabbit is from a current set, Nature's Beauty. I stamped him in black, and added a little color with some Stampin' Blends markers (Gray Granite, Smoky Slate, and Petal Pink).
I added some Artistry Blooms sequins to all of these cards. Such fun colors! Notice that I also added some color to the embossed circles with the new Blending Brushes. Unfortunately, they are out of stock until the end of the month. :(
Stamps: Nature's Beauty, Gotta Love Sentiments (Unity Stamp Co)
Ink: Black, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo
Paper: Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, White, Garden Impressions dsps
Other: Tasteful Labels dies, 2" and 2 1/4" circle punches, Parisian Flourish/Dainty Diamonds/Coastal Weave embossing folders, Artistry Blooms sequins, Stampin' Blends (Gray Granite, Smoky Slate, Petal Pink)
My final batch was Halloween!!! Yes, yes, I know it's super early for Halloween...but I found just enough coordinating patterned papers, and I like working off-season.
I honestly don't remember the names of these Halloween papers. I think they were from 2019. Colors are Lemon Lime Twist, and Gorgeous Grape. The stamps are all from Unity Stamp Co. I added some vellum circles on some, wee bits of ribbon, and some circle/scallop layers. I finished them all off with some black sequins that I had left over from my February Paper Pumpkin kit! Those doo-dads come in handy!
This one shows how I used that strip from the first cutting to add to the envelope flap - it doesn't go quite to the end of edge of the envelope flap, so I trimmed a teeny tiny bit off. No one will be the wiser.
Stamps: Make Magic Happen, Hello My Pretty Friend (both from Unity Stamp Co.)
Inks: Black
Paper: Basic Black, White, vellum, Toil & Trouble Designer series papers (from 2018! I had to google for it!)
Other: Layering Circles dies, 2 1/2" circle punch, Stampin' Blends (Purple Posy, Granny Apple Green), Black sequins, Gorgeous Grape Striped ribbon.
NOW, to show off what everyone else in our group made! This is always the most fun part about our monthly stamping - seeing what patterns, colors, and stamps everyone has used. It's all different every time!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
