Hi folks! Yesterday, I demonstrated my February 2021
Workshop. My theme for this month's workshop is Sympathy and Thinking of You cards. I'm mainly using two different Sale-a-Bration stamp sets - Heal Your Heart (free with $50 purchase) and A Touch of Ink (free with $100 purchase).
Be sure to check out my Workshop of the Month page for all the details.
Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can still watch it
on my Demonstrator Page later, OR on YouTube. If the picture does not
appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
So let's walk through each one of these projects! Card stock measurements are in the Video Description on YouTube.
The first project uses a simple card design, and gives a lovely card! The key to this design is that you have your piece of designer series paper 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". Turn it and cut at 4" along the long side. That gives you the two different pieces of paper - flip one of them over.
Wrap some ribbon around, and add your stamped and punched out greeting. The ribbon I've used is actually Sweet Sugarplum from a few years ago - it's almost a perfect match!
Finish off with just a few Basic Pearls.
The Heal Your Heart stamp set and Paper Blooms designer series paper are both $50 purchase Sale-a-Bration choices.
Ink: Night of Navy
Paper: Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray, Whisper White, Paper Blooms designer series paper
Other: Story Label punch, Basic Pearls, Sweet Sugarplum ribbon
Next up, I demonstrated an oldie-but-goodie technique - Inlaid Embossing. You get the look of an inlaid design, but faster and easier. To start out, let's mount our In Good Taste designer series paper pieces on Very Vanilla, and attach that to the Gray Granite card base.
For the Inlaid Embossing piece, you need a 2 1/2" circle, and a shape punched or cut out that fits on top of that circle. I used Early Espresso and the cat punch and new Dragonfly Duo punch. Attach that to the 2 1/2" circle, and emboss with the embossing folder of your choice.
I've actually used the same piece of designer series paper for both cards - just flipped over on one.
Once you emboss the inlaid piece, mount it on another same-size circle to add stability then mount that on to a slightly bigger circle. Pop that whole bit up on your card front. Stamp the greeting on a strip of Very Vanilla, and I ripped one end.
Finish off with a few Champagne Rhinestones. I really like the Champagne rhinestones here, over plain ones.
Stamps: Heal Your Heart
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Gray Granite, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, In Good Taste designer series paper
Other: 2 1/2" circle punch, Layering Circles dies, Wrapped in Texture embossing folders, Dragonflies punch, Cat punch, Champagne Rhinestones.
Next up is a subtle, but beautiful card using the Emboss Resist technique. Emboss your images with white power, on Vanilla cardstock. Use the new Blending Brushes to add some ink around them...buff off with a paper towel and mount to the card base.
The longest part of this card was the heat embossing. The leaves came from the A Touch of Ink stamp set, which is a $100 purchase Sale-a-Bration choice.
I blended Mint Macaron ink on this card. Stamp the greeting from Heal Your Heart in black ink, and punch out with the Lovely Label punch.
Finish off with just a couple of the new Opal Rounds. These are so pretty! The glitter really sparkles, and they look like something that would wash up on the beach.
Stamps: Heal Your Heart, A Touch of Ink
Ink: Onyx (Versafine), Versamark
Paper: Gray Granite, Very Vanilla
Other: White embossing powder, Lovely Label punch, Opal Rounds, Blending brushes
Last, but not least, the piece d' resistence! I saw the idea for this card on a video, and had to try it for myself. I didn't copy it exactly, because frankly...some of my ink pads need reinking and my chalk marker wasn't showing up well. I love how it turned out though! It reminds me of a painting.
This is actually the butterfly filler image from the A Touch of Ink stamp set. Turn it on it's side, and it looks kind of like a poppy flower!
I used Poppy Parade, Real Red, and Old Olive. I did stamp the "leaves" filler image first in Old Olive...stamp it off once, to stamp up near those top flowers (it's really covered over on this one), then stamp full strength near the bottom of the card front.
Stamp the row of Poppy Parade flowers first, a little higher than half-way up the card front. Then add a row of Real Red flowers down front and center. Use the same color markers to trace each flower, and add some lines to give definition.
I hand-drew the flower stems. Then go back and trace everything with a black journaling marker. Then take a blending brush, and add Old Olive ink around the entire piece before you mount everything on the card base.
Stamp and punch out the greeting, and finish with some Shimmery Crystal Effects on ALL of the flowers.
Ink: Poppy Parade, Real Red, Old Olive, Onyx (Versafine)
Paper: Poppy Parade, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Double Oval punch, Shimmery Crystal Effects, black journaling marker
It's always sad to have to send sympathy cards, but I hope you will enjoy making these.
Use the Hostess Code for this month to get the make-n-take kit for these cards, and a free ink pad. Don't forget to check out my Workshop of the Month page for all the details!
