Baby Blanket and Gift Tag

Last year, I made a baby afghan for a little girl using a pink and purple variegated yarn.  I can't remember the name of the yarn, but I got it at Joann's.  I just checked their web site, and I don't see it there anymore.  For those interested in the stitch - here is a close-up.  I don't remember the name of the pattern, but it looks like 3 triples, then one ch, all the way across.

Then I just did a plain-ish border around the whole thing, finished with a single-crochet for the very last round.  This picture shows the edge folded up.  Looks like I did a row of doubles, then the single.  The point is - this yarn is PRETTY!  :)

The stampy part - I finally had the opportunity to gift this baby blanket, so I put it in a plain brown gift bag and made the tag to match the blanket colors.

This is the tag.  I used all retiring/retired colors, because they best-matched the yarn colors.  Wisteria Wonder, Pretty in Pink, and Powder Pink.   I embossed the Pretty in Pink layer with the Lace folder.

The critters are from a Simon Says Stamp set called Baby Party Animals.  I got matching dies for it too, and was completely disappointed to find that the dies are off-set just a bit so they didn't cut out perfectly.  In the future, I'll have to cut the cardstock out with the die FIRST, then stamp on it to get it centered.  As it stands, I had to trim around the die-cut critters, so there's hardly any white border around them.  :(  I colored them in with markers (not alcohol markers), in  Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, and Wisteria Wonder.  You can't tell, but I ran some Clear Wink of Stella over their bellies.

The largest scallop circle die is in Powder Pink.  Then I have a Whisper White Stitched circle die cut.  I stamped some various circles from the Full Circle stamp set, by Ink Road Stamps.  She's got lots of cute stuff.  Stamp those in Wisteria Wonder, Regal Rose, and Pink Piroutte.  Cover up with a circle of vellum, and then stuck the critters on top.

Add the banner with glue dots, and then stamped BABY and hand-cut.  Pop that up with Stampin' Dimensionals and finish with rhinestones and 3 different ribbons.

I love being able to make a custom tag to match the gift!
