12 Weeks of Christmas Cards: Week 10

Whew!  I am barely making it again this week!  I have a good excuse this time though - I called a friend that I haven't talked to in a very long time and we had such a good, long conversation.  It was worth the scurrying to post now.  :)

I'm on Week 10 now, of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards!  It's hard to believe that A) December 1st will be here in about 20 minutes, and B) that I've only got TWO more of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards!  I swear, once September hits the weeks just fly by and now here we are...

This week's cards rely mostly on the pretty papers and an embossed background for some added texture and interest.  You need three pieces of designer series paper, which I glued flat to the embossed piece of Cloud Cover.  I suppose you could pop them up too...that would be interesting.

Then I added a small bit of Secret Sea Faux Linen ribbon and glued my greeting right on top of it.

Paper Measurements:
  • Secret Sea:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Cloud Cover:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Eyelet folder
  • Peaceful Gardens Designer Series Paper:  (3) 1 3/4" wide x 1 5/8" tall  (pay attention to the direction of your pattern, if there is one)
There is NO stamping on these cards!  Similar to last week, I used the Greetings for You Mix & Match ephemera.

I finished with some Low Profile Sparkle Gems in Secret Sea.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):

Stamps: None
Ink:  None
Paper: Secret Sea, Cloud Cover, Peaceful Gardens Designer series paper
Other: Eyelet embossing folder, Secret Sea Faux Linen ribbon, Low Profile Sparkle Dots, Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera pack

Join me this Thursday night as I'm back on my regular schedule.  I'll be making some cards that will be perfect for gift-giving occasions - holidays or birthdays!  Tune in!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

Keeping Traditions Holiday Mini Album Part 2

Greetings Stampy and Scrappy Friends!  I've got Part 2 of my Keeping Traditions Mini Album to share tonight.  I'll show the elements that we made last night, and give those measurements where applicable.  I went for about an hour, creating what I could.

My plan is to have ONE more session to finish this book.  We're almost there....  It's really getting heavy and full, which is wonderful.  I'm guessing this book, when finished, will hold at least 50 pictures.  WOW!!!!

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.

NOTE:  When cutting all of your papers and whiteboard, SAVE all of the scraps!  We can use those for tags, pockets, and things later on.

For this Part 2 session, I started out making two full-size pocket pages.  I'm only showing you one here, but trust me - I made one in Secret Sea, and one in Pool Party.  Finished size of these pockets is 6" x 8", with a 1 1/2" cut down on the front.  I like seeing the lighter side of that two-tone cardstock, and it's super easy to add tags and booklets to a pocket like this.

The front of this pocket looks plain right now, but as we get to finish the album I'll be adding tuck spots, and the die-cuts and stickers from the workshop kit  I want to have all of the base pieces and pockets created first, then I'll know what I have to work with.

Paper Measurements:
  • Secret Sea & Pool Party Two-Tone:  8" x 12", scored at 6".  Turn so you can cut 1 1/2" off the TOP of the FRONT of the pocket.  That gives us that bi-level look.
  • DSP (2 prints):  5 3/4" wide x 6 1/4" tall
The 1 1/2" piece that I cut off from the top - I used that to make a gusset to glue in the bottom of the pocket.  Just to make it a wee bit roomier than just gluing the bottom shut flat.

Next, I took both packs of Flip Flaps - 4" x 6" and 3" x 4", and added them to the album.  Just a sample here, but I added them as tip-in elements on several pages.

I used FOUR on this chipboard wrapped page - two on the top and bottom of both sides.  This one page (both sides) alone can hold at least 12 pictures, with all these flip flaps!

I also added some of the 4" x 6" Flip Flaps directly on the photo pocket pages themselves, but that does not photograph well.

Going to the 3" x 4" Flip Flaps, I started by making some small waterfalls on the small white pages I had. Ignore the direction of the photo mats that I put in there.  That's just so you can see what's going on.  This white page is 5" x 6", and with the Flip Flaps...I'm thinking I can get six pictures on the front and one or two small ones on the back - let's say eight pictures on a 5" x 6" page?  Sweet!

I also added some 3" x 4" Flip Flaps directly on the pocket pages too...again, does not photograph well.

I finished this second session by making Gusseted pockets for the inside front and back covers.   Secret Sea for the inside front cover.  I will doll this up with elements in the next session.  I'll also have tags and photo mats to add to the pocket.

Inside back cover.  I added that scalloped trim to the bottom, glued only at the bottom so it could be a nice tuck spot.  Then in my eagerness to add at least ONE embellishment, I added that sticker right over the right-hand side.  :(  I can still tuck something on the left side.  Geez...

Paper Measurements:
  • Secret Sea & Cherry Cobbler Two-Tone:  3 1/2" x 7 1/4", scored at 1/2" on three sides to make the gusseted pocket
  • DSP (for Secret Sea pocket):  2 3/4" x 6"
I showed how to use the Envelope Punch board to get that nice "v" punched from the center.  You could also use a circle punch, but I think this looks nicer.

Supply List:

#166804 Keeping Traditions Scrapbooking Workshop Kit  $36.00
#166805 Keeping Traditions 12" x 12" Two-Tone Cardstock  $12.00
#163883 Basic 6" x 8" Album  $11.50
#144205 Variety Pack 6" x 8" Photo Pocket Pages  $6.25
#166511 4" x 6" Flip Flaps  $7.50
#166513 3" x 4" Flip Flaps  $6.50
#165875 Traditional Sparkling Sequins $8.00
#165876 Real Red 1/2" Shiny Ribbon $10.00
#165273 Secret Sea 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon  $8.00

My plan is to finish everything up in a Part 3 video this coming weekend - most likely Saturday.  I'm not sure of the time at this point.   Things that I'll need to do to finish up this album:  decorate the front cover, make tags and photo booklets, cut paper for all of the pocket page inserts (this is where scraps come in handy from everything else that we've cut), add the stickers and die-cuts from the workshop kit, and add our ribbons and sparkly bits!

I hope you are enjoying seeing this album come together!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

12 Weeks of Christmas Cards: Week 9

Thanks for stopping by to check out my Week 9 cards, in my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards series.  I can't believe there are only three more weeks after tonight!  I wanted to get into the ephemera bits of this North Pole Delivery designer series paper pack for this week's cards.  I have a few animal lovers that I can send these cards to, so I hope they like them.

Die cut that postage stamp layer, and add in the two different pieces of designer series paper.  Then glue on an animal, and envelope, and a little stamp or post box to each one.  They all got three things.  Actually, one card had really small animals so that one got two animals.

Then I added a tiny piece of Real Red Shiny ribbon, and glued the greeting right on top of that.  The greetings are self-adhesive, but I didn't trust it to stay stuck on that ribbon.  More glue.

Pop the whole thing up with foam tape on the Poppy Parade card base.

Paper Measurements:
  • Poppy Parade:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  4" x 5", cut with Postage Stamp dies (mine are from Unity Stamp Co.)
  • North Pole Delivery DSP (dotted print):  3 1/4" x 4 3/8"
  • North Pole Delivery DSP (red graph print):  1" x 3 1/4"
  • North Pole Delivery DSP:  ephemera pieces for each card
There is NO stamping on these cards!  I used ephemera pieces from the DSP pack, and then the Greetings for You Mi & Match ephemera.  The gold in the greeting pieces are a nice pop!

I finished with some old Fine Sparkle Gems.  They were Calypso Coral, but I colored them with a Poppy Parade Dark Stampin' Blend so they matched.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):

Stamps: None
Ink:  None
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic White, North Pole Delivery Designer series paper
Other: Fine Sparkle Gems, Poppy Parade Dark Stampin' Blend, Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera, Real Red 1/2" Shiny ribbon

I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving this week!  Enjoy your time with family, friends, yourself - whoever you spend the day with.  Enjoy yourself!

I won't be live this Thursday....because I'll either be doing dishes from our own dinner, or I'll be in a turkey coma.  I will be back on Saturday for what I hope is the FINAL segment of my Keeping Traditions Mini Album videos.  I love how that mini album is coming along!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

Keeping Traditions Holiday Mini Album Part 1

Happy Crafturday Friends and welcome to Part 1 of my Keeping Traditions 6" x 8" Mini Album Tutorial.  This is a multi-part series...hopefully it will only take me two more sessions to finish!   In Part 1, I explain all the supplies that I'm using (listed further down) and my general concept for creating this album.   Basically, I'm using the Keeping Traditions Scrapbooking Workshop Kit, the coordinating Two-Tone cardstock pack and a pack of pocket pages to create all of the pages that will make up this album.  I'll also use some ribbons and sparkly gems to tart up the album at the end.

To start out, I sorted and arranged the pocket pages in my album.  Next I sorted all of the Two-Tone cardstock from both the workshop kit and the Two-Tone pack.  Then I set out creating MORE pages using the whiteboard and chipboard from the scrapbooking workshop kit and the pocket pages packing.  All of these pages go into the 6" x 8" Album

I wrapped all of these whiteboard and chipboard pages with the two-tone cardstock, like I wrap covers when I make mini albums from scratch.  After all the glue dried, I used one of the plastic pocket pages as a template to draw in the holes with a pencil.  Then I used my Crop-o-Dile Multi-Hole punch to punch the holes.  I used the 1/4" hole punch slot.   Link to my Amazon store is in my signature block at the bottom of this post.  The punch is made by We R Memory Keepers.

NOTE:  When cutting all of your papers and whiteboard, SAVE all of the scraps!  We can use those for tags, pockets, and things later on.

Whiteboard pages first.  I had TWO 12" x 12" pieces of whiteboard to use, from the scrapbooking workshop kit and the Two-Tone cardstock pack.  I cut those up to make two larger pages, and four smaller pages.

I started out with Cherry Cobbler and Secret Sea larger pages.

Paper Measurements:
  • Whiteboard:  (2) 7" x 8 1/4"
  • Cherry Cobbler & Secret Sea Two-Tone:  (1 each) 9" x 10 1/4"
  • Cherry Cobbler & Secret Sea Two-Tone:  (1 each) 6 7/8" x 8 1/8"
There was one piece of chipboard in the Pocket Pages pack, which was very close in size to what I made above.

Picture of the back.

Paper Measurements:
  • Chipboard:  6 7/8" x 8 3/8"
  • Old Olive Two-Tone:  8 7/8" x 10 3/8"
  • Old Olive Two-Tone:  6 3/4" x 8 1/4"
Four smaller Whiteboard pages measure 5" x 6".  I made these off camera, because I had already gone for about an hour and 20 minutes.  Same exact concept as the first set of whiteboard pages.  I used the whiteboard scraps from those initial cuts to make these pages, and still have a few small pieces left.

Paper Measurements:
  • Whiteboard:  (4) 5" x 6"
  • Real Red (1), Pool Party (1), Willow White (2) Two-Tone:  7" x 8"
  • Real Red (1), Pool Party (1), Willow White (2) Two-Tone:  4 7/8" x 5 7/8"
Once I have all of the base pages created, I'll go back and add some of the stickers and die-cuts to from the scrapbooking kit to doll up these pages.  Did I mention that there's NO STAMPING in this album?  That's right!  I really am using only the materials listed below.

Here's a short video of where I ended up after I finished the four smaller pages from Thursday night.

Supply List:

#166804 Keeping Traditions Scrapbooking Workshop Kit  $36.00
#166805 Keeping Traditions 12" x 12" Two-Tone Cardstock  $12.00
#163883 Basic 6" x 8" Album  $11.50
#144205 Variety Pack 6" x 8" Photo Pocket Pages  $6.25
#166511 4" x 6" Flip Flaps  $7.50
#166513 3" x 4" Flip Flaps  $6.50
#165875 Traditional Sparkling Sequins $8.00
#165876 Real Red 1/2" Shiny Ribbon $10.00
#165273 Secret Sea 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon  $8.00

Join me tomorrow night for Part 2 of this Keeping Traditions Mini Album Tutorial.  I'll be making more base pages, adding some Flip Flaps, pockets, and tags.  There will definitely be a Part 3 to finish it up.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

12 Weeks of Christmas Cards: Week 8

Thanks for catching Week 8 of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards adventure.  Only FOUR more weeks to go...  I wanted to use these beautiful Traditions of Christmas papers this week - love all this gold mixed in!

I brought in the stamps and some gold bits from the 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar.  The flower stamps in this kit CAN be poinsettias...as you see here, but they can also be other flowers.  Just change the color.  I wanted poinsettias though, and this is the closest thing that I have.  I did hand-cut all of these.

I used the gold gems from the Advent Calendar for the centers of my flowers.  After this first one, I decided to switch to the Gold Glitter glue, also from the Advent Calendar.  Same look, but easier to work with the glitter glue.

Paper Measurements:
  • Real Red:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Traditions of Christmas DSP (floral print):  4" x 5"
  • Traditions of Christmas DSP (green stripes print):  1" x 4"
  • Basic White:  full sheet to stamp and hand-cut flowers, and die-cut greeting banners
I used the Seasonal Tags to layer the greetings on top of each other.  Stamp "christmas" first in Old Olive, then gold-emboss "Merry" over top of it.  Overlapping some is fine.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):

Stamps: Seasonal Tags, 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar
Ink:  Real Red, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Versamark
Paper: Real Red, Basic White, Traditions of Christmas Designer series paper
Other: Country Corners dies, Real Red 1/2" Shiny ribbon, 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar, Gilded Sparkle embossing powder (Brutus Monroe)

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

Ornamental Christmas Projects

Hi Crafty Friends!  Today I'm sharing the projects that I made on Thursday night featuring the Ornamental Christmas  Bundle and Modern Christmas Specialty papers.  The black, white, and GOLD patterns in this paper are beautiful!  Most of the patterns can be used for any occasion - not just Christmas.  I also dragged out my bead box to make a paper ornament!

First up is a retro looking Christmas ornament card.  I used the die-cuts from the bundle to make an inlaid ornament.  Cut the ornament out of Gorgeous Grape, then cut the diamonds out....try your best to center them, and I showed you a trick to get that part lined up nicely.  Then I cut more of the diamonds out of silver foil and placed them in the cut-out spots...inlaid.  You could certainly tart the Gorgeous Grape ornament base up a little more with an embossing folder, or even stamping on it to create a pattern.  I left it plain.

I also used the Dotted Circles embossing folder on my background - and I'm just now realizing that I glued that on backwards.  I wanted the center of the dots to be on the left side of the card.  Oh well!  It's fine.  :)

Paper Measurements:
  • Highland Heather:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Highland Heather:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8", embossed with Dotted Circles folder
  • Gorgeous Grape:  scrap to die-cut ornament
  • Silver Foil:  scrap to die-cut star-shaped ornament, and little bits for the Gorgeous Grape ornament.
Finish off with a bunch of the Purple Fine Shimmer gems, and a greeting from the Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera pack.  I liked the black and white aspect.

Stamps:  none
Ink: none
Paper:  Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Silver Foil, Basic White
Other:  Ornamental Christmas Dies, Dotted Circles embossing folder, Purple Fine Shimmer Gems, Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera pack, Silver cord

Next up is a really cool paper ornament with a beaded tassel on the bottom.  Use the ornament die, to die-cut a bunch of ornaments from the Modern Christmas Specialty Paper.  I think I had 9 pieces, but more would be better  The more you have, the fuller your ornament will be.  You could go as high as 20...

You fold each ornament in half, and glue them together.  I recommend designer series paper for this type of project because it is much easier to hand-fold, versus cardstock.  Cardstock is just TOO thick for such a small piece.  Plus you get to show off your pretty papers!

I added my Gold Baker's Twine loop before I glued the final ornament flaps together, so it's buried in the center of this ornament with a bunch of glue holding it in place.  Add the beads after.  If you don't have beads - no worries.  Just cut the end of your ornament string off at the bottom.

If you don't have an ornament-shaped die, you can use circle punches.  Again, stick with designer series papers.

Paper Measurements:
  • Modern Christmas Specialty Paper:  enough to die-cut plenty of ornaments
You could also add some gems to each ornament panel...if you want.

Stamps:  none
Ink:  none
Paper:  Modern Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other:  Ornamental Christmas dies, Gold Baker's Twine, beads

The third project actually used some stamping.  I just now realized that the first two had no stamping.  Geez.   This is a Faux Center Step card, and I love making these.  You can change up the width of your center step - make it wider or more narrow...gives it a different look.

I wanted to add a little bit of pink on this card, so I went with Melon Mambo.  That particular ornament doesn't show enough...but that's my fault for where I placed it.  I could have pushed it up a little further.  You get the idea though.

Paper Measurements:
  • Lemon Lime Twist:  4 1/4" x 9", scored at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 5 3/4"
  • Lemon Lime Twist:  3" x 11", scored at 5 1/2"
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" x 5 1/4", for back to write on
  • Modern Christmas Specialty Paper/Print #1:  2 3/4" x 5 3/4"
  • Modern Christmas Specialty Paper/Print #2":  1" x 4", and 3" x 4"
  • Lemon Lime Twist, Basic White:  scraps to stamp/cut trees
Here are some angles of the cards standing up.  I finished it with some Flower Accents - they are a nice bright, bold gold embellishment.  Shows off the gold in the specialty papers.

Greeting is from the gold & white Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera pack.  More gold to tie in with the rest of the card.

Stamps:  Ornamental Christmas Bundle
Ink:  Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper: Lemon Lime Twist, Basic White, Modern Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other:  Flower Accents, Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

I love this bundle, but alas - it will be on the Last Chance list starting in December.   Stampin' Up is phasing out all of their red rubber stamps.  :(

This coming Thursday, I'm going to start on my Keeping Traditions 6" x 8" Mini Album.  It's going to take me at least two sessions to get that project finished...maybe three.  We'll have to play it by ear and see how far I get each time.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!

12 Weeks of Christmas Cards: Week 7

With 5 minutes to spare, I present to you Week 7 of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards!  I wanted a Pink & Black set of cards, so the Ornamental Christmas bundle was perfect.

I colored the black/white panels with my Pretty in Pink Dark Stampin' Blend marker...I would not recommend using a regular Stampin' Write marker or the ink pad because those are both water-based and any moisture on fingers or hands handling the cards will cause ink to come off on to those fingers or hands.  So, alcohol-marker is best for this use.

I used the retired Merry Melody embossing folder for some interest on that layer, but you could use any embossing folder that goes with the feel of this card.

I also used the Pretty in Pink Stampin' Blends (both dark and light) to color in the trees, then hand-cut them.  Run the a clear shimmer pen all over the trees too.

Paper Measurements:
  • Pretty in Pink:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Pretty in Pink:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Merry Melody folder
  • Modern Christmas DSP:  3" x 5 1/4"
  • Pretty in Pink:  2 1/2" circle
  • Basic White:  2 1/4" circle
  • Basic White:  scraps to stamp and hand-cut tree
I had some old Pink Pirouette Taffeta ribbon that mostly went with the colors.  Finish off with some Strawberry Slush and Pretty ink Pink gems.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):

Stamps: Ornamental Christmas
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Basic White, Modern Christmas Designer series paper
Other: Merry Melody embossing folder, Pink Pirouette 3/8" Taffeta ribbon, 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" Circle punches, Pretty in Pink Stampin' Blends, Strawberry Slush/Pretty in Pink gems, Clear Shimmer brush pen
